Perhaps the best way to understand the principle of Wu Wei (effortless or actionless action) is to listen to how Tang dynasty poets described it: being drunk. Wu wei is similar to being less in control over our lives in order to achieve more-a bit like how drunk people can accomplish some tasks better because they’re less anxious and straight-laced. Another Tang dynasty poet likens a person inspired by Wu Wei to a drunk man who falls uninjured from a moving cart; their spiritual momentum is unbothered by misfortune that comes their way. Improving media literacy could boost trust towards the news, IMPRESS report suggests
The UK media is regulated by the likes of IPSO and Ofcom. The report by press regulator IMPRESS highlights the link between low levels of media literacy and trust in the news. The study found that three quarters of those who did not know if journalists were regulated did not trust the news. It suggests that improving media literacy is one way to stem the erosion of trust, and shows that audiences have an appetite for information on news processes.
