To give astronauts better food, engineers test a fridge prototype in microgravity

Thanks to a new refrigerator design, astronauts might be able to stay in space for longer. Researchers are testing a new type of fridge that can operate like a traditional Earth fridge, but in microgravity. It’s similar to a regular fridge, but doesn’t use oil, making it safer to use as there’s no danger of oil leaks. If successful, astronauts can have rations that last up to five to six years in space.
