Philosopher John Divers argues that David Lewis’ (in)famous statement ー “just about everything you can think of really exists” ー cannot be true because science doesn’t tell us what could be real; it doesn’t talk about possibility. To prove his point, he examines scientific statements that hint at possibility and strip them down to their essential forms, showing how statements of possibility are inconsequential to what’s being said.

Overcoming Bias
Kai Cheng’s professor had a brilliant scheme. In his first lecture, he promised that each lecture would feature a “Lie of the Day”. But why? It made his students more attentive and analytical, poring over every detail of his lecture and making sense of why things were true.
