To regain control from Amazon, it seems publishers are fostering relationships directly with their readers. Publishers like Titan Books are creating websites with content that caters to readers who want to be up to date about their favourite authors and series. And it seems to be working well for them; although Titan had to drum up interest through giveaways in the first few months, their site has been getting more sales compared to their more aggressive retail programs.
