While figs support entire ecosystems of animals, their relationship with fig wasps is their most intimate. In fact, they need each other to survive. Female wasps carry pollen with them into the structure we call the fruit, where they pollinate the flowers while laying their eggs before dying. After the larva hatch and the males pollinate the females, they carry pollen with them out of the fruit, and the cycle starts anew.

Overcoming Bias
Kai Cheng’s professor had a brilliant scheme. In his first lecture, he promised that each lecture would feature a “Lie of the Day”. But why? It made his students more attentive and analytical, poring over every detail of his lecture and making sense of why things were true.
