Soft robots use camera and shadows to sense human touch

Be careful not to squeeze a robot’s hand too tight – they may complain. Trying to make human-robot interactions less artifical, a group of researchers has created ShadowSense. This technology uses a USB camera under the robot’s skin to capture the shadows of hand gestures and classify them using machine learning.
