Stupidity is not just a cognitive phenomenon; it’s also connected to our emotions. When we feel insecure and alone, sometimes we do stupid things just to feel in charge and to belong. This type of stupidity is called ego-driven stupidity. Conspiracy theorists, for example, will most likely continue to show their belief in the conspiracy theory because they’re afraid that they’ll be kicked out of their community.
