Although plastic wine bottles have been proposed to reduce the wine industry’s impact on global warming, reusing glass bottles may be an even better alternative. Reusing glass bottles means fewer bottles will be made, which is great as it takes temperatures above 1000ºC to melt glass! Additionally, glass has a much higher recycling rate than plastic; glass can be recycled 90% of the time, compared to plastic’s 10%. But it’s not a perfect solution either.
