It seems that social media’s algorithms are driving away content creators. In a comic, The Oatmeal shows how content creators get hurt by social media algorithms consistently locking them out of their followers’ feeds so that social media can charge creators to regain their reach. In response, The Oatmeal has decided to cut out social media and urge their fans to subscribe to their newsletter to reach fans directly in an attempt to take back control.

Kai Cheng’s professor had a brilliant scheme. In his first lecture, he promised that each lecture would feature a “Lie of the Day”. But why? It made his students more attentive and analytical, poring over every detail of his lecture and making sense of why things were true.
