Our Favourite Uses of Typography in Watches

One of the most iconic typographical features in the watch world seems to have been borne from practicality. As wristwatches started to become more popular, technology to mass produce dials started to emerge to fulfil demand, making use of pad printing to print on the uneven surfaces. Due to the constraints of the printing technology and the need for clarity, the iconic “flat top 4” design — associated with vintage Rolexes, but persisting in modern day — was born.
