Today, corsets are usually associated with women. But, along with high heels and pink clothes, men used to wear corsets too. As evidenced by historical accounts — from Thomas Paine, one of America’s founding fathers, to Thomas Chew, a naval officer who fought in the War of 1812 — men had been involved with corsets since their invention.
