Scientists are striving to enhance the capabilities of the Large Hadron Collider beauty (LHCb) detectors in researching photon interactions. LHCb is an experiment being conducted at CERN, the European Organisation for Nuclear Research in Geneva. By using LHCb machines, researchers hope to access the dark photon through a portal, the hypothetical process connecting regular and dark particles. They’re interested in knowing how these portal interactions can help convert dark matter into regular photons, which can hopefully be detected once they decay into charged ions.
