We all make mistakes, and although this can be daunting for children to accept, it is the path to true confidence. Our fears that we may be stupid are not special or particularly damning; in fact, they’re quite normal! Everyone from presidents to movie stars to teachers and parents make mistakes, and this fact should be embraced, not feared. Montaigne’s famous quote “Kings and philosophers shit and so do ladies” serves to remind us that we are all imperfect, but that this doesn’t mean we can’t try our best and live a confident life.
