Graphene may be the solution to our water problems. Researchers have developed “smart” membranes (filters) using inexpensive graphene oxide that can not only filter out chemical impurities efficiently but also help control water flow through electrical currents. These properties can bolster water conservation efforts by providing cheap yet effective filters that can remove 85% of salt from seawater for use in agriculture and by reducing water leakage through better management of water networks using electric currents. The Priest in the Arena
The phrase “man in the arena” has been popularized in recent years, but a lesser known, more dangerous archetype is the “priest in the arena”. This figure is responsible for a process called theocratic capture, where an institution surrenders to a cult demanding unaccountable authority, fueled by claims to privileged knowledge.
