Faster-than-light (FTL) travel had been deemed impossible because of how general relativity works, but an astrophysicist may have cracked the code. Erik Lentz theorizes that with enough energy, solitons — waves that maintain their shape and energy while moving at FTL speeds— can warp space-time to enable safe FTL travel.
