Could Romania Be Europe’S Next Wine Destination?

Romania has some of the oldest known winemaking traditions, as well as claims to wine-fame: legend has it that Dionysus, the god of wine, was born there. However, during communist rule, much of its potential was squandered. New plans are being implemented to attract wine-loving visitors through the construction of state-of-the-art wineries. The wineries’ primary marketing strategy has been to piggyback wine tourism on national news events.
