A new study has discovered that the average pregnancy length in the United States is shorter than in European countries. The research, which was conducted by Boston University School of Public Health and Harvard Medical School, revealed that in the US, the average gestational age has dropped from 39.1 weeks to 38.5 weeks between 1990 and 2020. In contrast, only 60% of births in England and 56% in the Netherlands occur prior to 40 weeks, which suggests that the US may have something to learn from its European counterparts.
